Inspiration…Get it where you find it!
Motivation and inspiration can be gained from some of the most unlikely places and experiences. This became very evident to me while I recently attended an event hosted by a well known and respected entertainer. During the event I was moved as the timeless musical arrangements reached out and gently stroked my emotions and delicately touched my soul. For approximately 2 and half hours I was able to let the weight of the world as well as all it’s trials and tribulations to lift and freely float away. I quickly realized that I was not alone. As I left my world behind and joined that of others, I was inspired by the somewhat spiritual environment and I respectfully gained a renewed faith in humanity. As men and women of all nationalities, cultural diversities, socio-economic backgrounds as well as various age groups were united in the joy and pleasure of a common interest, I discovered that mankind still has the ability rise to its feet in joy, song and laughter. I learned that mankind still has the ability to separate themselves from the worldly things that prevent us from enjoying the daily peace that we all seek. It is somewhat ironic that this was done while simultaneously many in the world were caught in the cold grip of strife, toils and tribulations. In addition, many are exhaustingly consumed by despair and materialistic vices that restrict inner growth and prohibit happiness, serenity and joy. Couples young and old had the ability to sit and stand, arm in arm, hand in hand, embracing the solitude of happiness and sharing the moment while all other things seemed insignificant. A warmness filled my heart as people were touched in such a way that they were moved to spontaneously rise from their seat and join in the rhythm of auditory and kinesthetic delight. Doing so without any reservation or fear of being different or of being chastised for their demonstration of free flowing self expression. This experience helped me to better understand that we all have the ability to be happy, joyful and care-free just as we once did when we were children. Deep down inside we all still have the ability to raise our hearts and voice in a joyful celebration of life. A celebration of all that is good and is right. This a firm confirmation that people are all still good deep down inside and it can help us to better understand that our job in life is to make a difference in the lives of others. To work hard to provide for the needs of others while putting our own struggles, failures and defeats aside and turn our full focus on those around us. As the consummate gentleman and scholar “Sting” once said…”We must walk in the shoes of others, even if they are uncomfortable or 5 inch heals”. We all have the ability to make a difference, we all have the ability to have a positive effect on our community, our friends, our neighbors and our families.
